As we are taught in Ephesians, each of us is equipped with a powerful weapon to help us fight our spiritual battles.  In our Youth Group, we have a tradition that I'd like to suggest you try in case you are not already doing it.  Before we pray, we speak a certain scripture aloud as a way to focus our thoughts on God.  We have done this for many years and it has become our "call and response" which is recognized by the youth in the group (and by former group members) as the threshold into our prayer times.  I also believe that when scripture is spoken aloud, it has a powerful effect on the group and it pleases God to hear His words spoken aloud.  Your group can choose any scripture that fits your group and your ministry focus.  Our group (and several other groups from my area) use the  words from Psalm 51 and 62.  At the beginning of our prayer time, the leader starts the prayer with "Create in me a clean heart, O God." and the group responds "And renew a right spirit within me" which is from Psalm 51.  At the end of the prayer, the leader says... "Only in God is my soul at rest." and the group responds... "In Him comes my salvation." which is from Psalm 62.  It's pretty basic and you may already be doing it, but if you're not, try it out and keep doing it and soon you'll have a new tradition and a group that is more focused on God.
