The Comfy Chair (Upper Elementary Edition)

The Comfy Chair is a game designed to get youth talking. We like to say it breaks down walls and begins building bridges among your youth. Each game has a 150 card deck, with three questions on each card. Next to each question is the icon of a chair, the stool represents a hard question, the rocking chair, a less difficult questions and the comfy chair represents an easy to answer question. Or does it? What makes Comfy Chair fun to play is that you never know when you choose a chair to sit in, if the question will truly be easy or hard for you!

Some groups actually set up three chairs for game play, while some just break out the game on road trips, or with friends. It can be played anywhere. Questions are drawn from the life experiences of the youth we have worked with over the years, and include questions about faith, friendship, family and life in general. A question that was easy for you to answer the first time you play, might be much harder to answer eight months later, depending on your life circumstances.

The Upper Elementary Edition gives fourth through sixth graders a chance to talk about issues of life and faith in a non-threatening setting. Great for starting a Sunday School class session or for getting a group talking at a game night. Age appropriate questions were designed with this age group in mind.

Comfy Chair can be used to open conversation in Sunday School or at a youth meeting. You can play it in the car, in a plane on a boat or on a train (with apologies to Dr. Seuss). I've even heard of youth leaders and pastors who have used it as a way to stimulate discussion in Confirmation.
